What is Peruvian Pima Cotton?

The endemic Peruvian Pima Cotton comes from the plant gossypium barbadense, the mother of Pima cotton. It has been collected by pre-Colombian people for more than 4000 years in the north coastal valleys of Peru. This Cotton is still cultivated without pesticides nor fertilizers that is why it is organic. The tropical atmosphere, the rich soils and the purity of the water, combined with its finesses and its size make it one of the best cottons in the world. This cotton plant also has a natural protector that keeps it safe from fungal and insect damage.

Peruvian Pima Cotton is carefully harvested entirely by hand and results in a brilliant white shade of whole cotton, which dyes beautifully and feels soft and smooth against the skin, it resembles silk, that is the reason it is called “the Andean silk” which is perfect for a new baby’s sensitive skin.

The most important characteristic of Peruvian Pima Cotton is its fiber length, also known as staple, making it extra-long staple cotton. The longer the fiber the better the quality.

Another great quality of Peruvian Pima Cotton is the fiber strength. Together with a longer staple, it gives you a durable and breathable fabric.

For all this fabulous reasons new and experienced parents prefer Peruvian Pima cotton baby clothes; parents can trust Fran+Livy for excellent products and quality.
